Better Dynasty?

They may have that year, but normally I was thinking Jonesville had blue helmets, with yellow facemask. Even had Bulldogs on the back of their jerseys. Maybe I have been sacked too many times by Appy in the playoffs, who knows.

I remember playing Jonesville in little league a few years after they had closed and one of their boys was so big he was using one of their old helmets instead of what the rest of the team wore.

These helmets were an exact copy of LSU's (had the JHS letters set even the same above Dog emblem). Rest of unis the same as LSU minus the purple (were blue striped)

I don't remember the uniforms too well.

I believe they went 5-5 regular season, just like the '89 Appy state champs. Brady Yeary was a soph on that team and I believe they also had the Spence kid who was later killed in a tragic accident.

Kelly had an 88 game win streak in baseball(that may have been LPD games) if I'm not mistaken. Either way both are impressive, as well as what PV has done in football.

Jonesville gave or sold the unis thier FB team wore to Appy after their consolidation...They were almost the same as the Dawgs except the helmet wasn't plain jane and the yellow on their uni was a brighter shade. If I'm not mistaken Appy's varsity wore the yellow pants from time to time for a season or 2. And, I'm almost certain Appy's JV used the rest. Their stars in 88 were Spence at RB and Miles at FB with Miles doin most of the dirty work. They had a Wolliver kid who was a force as well and I think he also played for Lee their 1st couple years. I was a soph. the last time they came to the park..and they were pretty good.

That was a good team. It was a good RC team, probably the best IMO to play at the Cove that year. They had speed with Estep at RB, a good QB in Allen Bowen, and they had size at FB and throughout the line. Heck, I was looking at a PV page today someone put together with about all of their games since 60 or something like that. I noticed that PV used to have a regular schedule with RC until around 83.

I knew Brady Yeary at the time and I'm pretty sure he had a 1,000 yard season as a soph. that year for Jonesville.

Last time PV played RC regular season was '81. The two teams are mentioned as playing each other in the "Big Stone Gap" novel.

I'm not saying he didn't play then, or have a big year. All I am saying is that the name that was broadcast over the PA all night was Miles...and he carried the load vs Strasburg as well cuz I sat there and watched it.
